We all want the best for our kids and we get excited just at the thought of celebrating them in any way. But it's even more exciting when it comes to celebrating their birthdays. However, let's admit it. Planning a child's birthday can be a little overwhelming. I mean, where do you even start? The pressure is on, especially for a first birthday.
I know how you feel, so I've done the homework for you. Here are 5 of my favorite party planning tips to inspire you and simplify the whole process. Hopefully, that means you can pull off a party everyone will enjoy, stress-free!
Pick a Theme
This might seem like extra work but no, if you pick a theme, it's easier to match the decor, activities and even your child's outfit. It could be based on a favorite toy, a character from a book or a movie, or even something generic like a princess or color-based theme. Keep it simple or go all out!
Find a venue
Now that you have a theme, start thinking of venues. Do you want to host at the party at home or would you prefer to let someone else take care of everything, including the cleanup? Although it may be cheaper to do everything yourself, there is something to be said for letting someone else do all the hard work so you relax and enjoy the celebrations with your little one. Money well spent if you ask me.
Guest List
Bearing in mind the venue and theme, it's time to think about the guest list. Are you catering for kids, adults, or both? Are you celebrating your child's milestone or surviving your own first year of parenthood?
Double Up
By now, you've likely met tons of other parents at prenatal classes, play centers, or parenting support groups with kids who are similar in age. Why not join forces to split the cost, to-do-list, and stress? Plan a double, triple or group party. Likely the kiddos will love the idea, or they are too tiny to know the difference. On a practical note, with lots of birthdays in your social circle falling around the same time, you won't end up being double booked either!
Games
Games are the best icebreakers and lots of fun for kiddos and adults alike. Everyone loves a game, especially when there are prizes involved. Prizes don't have to break the bank either. Just hit up the local dollar store to keep everyone entertained at a minimal cost.
